A New Turkish Agro-Economy The country is poised for agricultural innovation and economic growth. New methods, new crops and desire to trade are the highlights of this sector. Turkish and foreign firms can get together to take advantage of this potential. Agro-industries, chemicals, technologies, financial services and training are in increasing demand. Agricultural exports are reaching out to nearly 100 countries in the Middle East, Western and Central Europe, Russia, the Mediterranian basin and the Central Asian republics. In spite of various hindrances that dilute beneficial effects of modern planning and implementation, agricultural production has risen steadily since early 1980's (3 % per year). The agro-industry has grown rapidly in Turkey and the domestic and foreign investments have resurged in the 1980's. Measures such as export credits,tax rebates and subsudies in the form of credits are trade policies contributing to the national export performance positively.
